As the temperatures rise, you may be wondering about the Atlantic Hurricane Season, which runs from June 1 to November 30. The storm predictions are out, and in this edition of our newsletter, we have important information so you can be prepared and protect what matters most.
Protecting your identity is also critically important. That’s because identity theft is on the rise. The growing crime is not just a serious problem in our local community, but in our nation and around the world. If your personal information lands in the wrong hands, fraudsters can create fake accounts to possibly steal your money and your good name. Learn how BayCoast Insurance pitched in to help our community fight back!
We’ll also bring you a story about giving back. As you may know, our BayCoast family has a long history of helping our neighbors. We truly care and believe aiding those around us, is the right thing to do. You’ll learn how we are supporting our South Coast communities through a nonprofit organization that provides free services for families in need.
Hurricane Season 2024: Are You Prepared to Weather the Storm?
Ah, warmer temperatures are finally with us here on the South Coast. This is the perfect time of year to enjoy everything our quaint coastal communities have to offer. Whether you’re making a splash at the beach, taking a day trip to a historic destination, or spending a fun night with family and friends at a local feast, life in Southern New England has something for everyone!
It also has something we can do without…the rising risk of hurricanes.
Predictions for the 2024 Atlantic Hurricane Season, which runs from June 1 to November 30, are already capturing attention. According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and AccuWeather, this year’s Hurricane Season is expected to be one of the most active on record. In fact, NOAA forecasters say there is an 85% chance that the hurricane season will be above normal, with a range of 17 to 25 named storms possible, with winds of 39 miles per hour or higher.
Water temperatures in areas of the Atlantic where hurricanes typically form are already running more than four degrees higher than historical averages. NOAA says this, combined with La Niña conditions in the Pacific, may unfortunately favor the development of tropical storms.
Another major concern is the potential for approaching storms to rapidly intensify. Forecasters warn that tropical systems in the Atlantic could develop into powerful and destructive storms at such a quick pace, that the public may not have the time to react and adequately prepare. This rapid progression of a storm’s intensity could spell trouble not just for our coastline, but inland areas as well.
Experts say now is the time to prepare.
“As we enter the 2024 Hurricane Season, it is important to take a closer look at your homeowner’s insurance policy to know your specific coverages and, perhaps more importantly, your policy’s limitations,” said Patrick Long, President and CEO of BayCoast Insurance. “As New Englanders, we know that storms which are tropical in nature can pack a punch when it comes to damaging winds and driving rains. At BayCoast Insurance, we are your local, trusted agents. We know the South Coast because many of us have lived here all our lives and we understand the potential risks an approaching storm may bring. We encourage homeowners to contact us for a free review of their insurance policies. Even if you’re not a BayCoast customer, we welcome you to contact us to see how we may be able to help you. Remember, it costs nothing to talk to us. Our experienced team is ready to offer consultative advice so you can make insurance decisions that are right for your situation. Having an insurance review may be important not just during the hurricane season, but for any time of the year. “Because insurance is an ever-changing industry, it is critical to stay current with your policy. The coverages you selected five years ago may not be adequate for your situation today. We are here to help guide you.”
The bottom line? Severe weather and weather-related emergencies can happen at any time. Take action today so you’re prepared. Contact the knowledgeable team at BayCoast Insurance for your free insurance policy review. Get the expert advice you need, so you can make an informed decision about your coverages to protect what matters most to you.
Sensational Shred Day!
We’d like to thank everyone who recently joined us for this year’s Shred Day Event at our Wilbur Avenue office. A whopping 230 cars lined up for the three-hour event as members of our community came to have their personal documents safely and securely destroyed.
You’ve probably heard the warnings. Identity theft is becoming a serious crime as a growing number of thieves attempt to steal sensitive information to commit fraud. Many of our neighbors brought common household documents to be properly shredded, such as tax records, old bills, bank statements, credit card statements, and canceled checks.
If you couldn’t join us for our Shred Day Event this time around, you can organize your documents for Shred Day 2025! Follow our social media channels to watch for our annual announcement for the next date and time!
